Basel III : the Three Pillars, Capital Adequacy, Liquidity and Leverage Ratios Explained
How updates to the Basel Framework since the financial crisis have strengthened the banking system
“This book provides the reader with a comprehensive overview of how the framework evolved, what constitutes its current incarnation and how the framework is put into practice by banks and other financial institutions of all sizes and jurisdictions.
The provision of clear practical examples helps the reader absorb the technicalities of the regulations and see how the framework is applied in real settings.
The author has filled a gap in the market with a comprehensive text that will provide support to a wide variety of readers from students of banking and finance, through to risk and finance practitioners up to executive and non-executive director level. ”
— Chris Sparks, Chief Risk Officer, Atom Bank
The Basel Framework sets out the internationally agreed requirements intended to strengthen banks and financial markets.
What these requirements are and how they have changed in response to the structural weaknesses highlighted by the financial crisis are covered in detail in my book Basel III : the Three Pillars; Capital Adequacy, Liquidity and Leverage Ratios Explained - How updates to the Basel Framework since the financial crisis have strengthened the banking system.

Since retiring in 2012 I have provided consultancy services to a number of banks and have developed e-learning material and delivered face to face training sessions for training providers including content on Basel requirements and Basel III.
